Health Prime International (HPI) is seeking an experienced Data Architect to spearhead the transformation of our current data warehouse into a modernized Data Lakehouse. As the Director of Data Architecture, you will lead solution design, develop governance, and manage your global team’s deliverables and quality control. You and your team are responsible for managing data for Health Prime’s global organization. The Director of Data Architecture works with the Product team, other development teams, business owners and their teams to understand requirements, define the development roadmap, scope and design releases and manage adoption.
Essential Job Duties
Data Lakehouse Development
- Direct and lead cross-functionally to implement the organization’s data architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Lead initiatives to improve the usability, scalability, efficiency, and security of data resources.
- Work closely with Product team, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure smooth functioning of the enterprise data system.
- Align data systems with broader organizational data solutions and analytics initiatives.
- Work closely with the Data Pipeline development team to ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data flow, enabling advanced analytics and informed decision-making.
- Drive the evolution and architecture for scalable and secure data platforms.
- Design and develop robust database and Data Lakehouse solutions to manage data efficiently.
- Engage with strategic internal customers and ensure their future needs and vision are considered in solution design.
- Oversee deployment of long-term strategic data products infusing key data and analytics services in applicable areas of the business and IT.
- Design and own conceptual and logical data models, data flows, and integration patterns for the Data Lakehouse, and consumption data layers.
- Communicate build strategy to team ensuring accurate and quality outcomes delivered on time.
- Provide guidance and architecture direction to the data engineering team to build data models which reflect how data will be consumed by functional teams like Finance, Operations, Client Success, and Clients. Develop the relationship between the different data sources.
- Develop and enforce data standards, procedures, and definitions for data governance ensuring understanding and adoption across the business landscape.
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through quality assurance processes.
- Effectively manage global resources and implement a cost-effective geographic resource strategy.
- Collaborate with BI team and Director of Business Intelligence to develop Data Lakehouse reporting models that support HPI reporting requirements.
- Excellent in working with business owners to understand requirements, analysis needs, data relationships and translate into a robust data architecture and data model.
- Effectively implements security and governance into overall data architecture.
- Owns design methodology and documentation and ensures team adheres to standards.
- Integrate Data Lakehouse into other applications working closely with the Data Pipeline development team.
Team Management
- Ensures developers build in a manner that is repeatable and delivers high value to HPI Business Owners and their teams.
- Effectively plans and scopes HPI BI sprints in alignment with HPI Product team Agile processes and methods, including estimating, resourcing, prioritizing and issues management.
- Works closely and collaboratively and in partnership with HPI Director of Business Intelligence, HPI product owners, client executives and operations managers to deliver BI capabilities.
- Communicates status regularly and effectively with HPI leaders.
- Effectively Leads report training, implementation and adoption.
- Supports HPI teams and clients in use of BI tools.
- Effectively hands off completed dashboards, etc. to IT operations for ongoing management and support.
- Mentor to analytics and BI team.
- Works closely and effectively with IT leadership and Operations teams to promote a collaborative BI environment.
- Anticipates and recognizes potential conflicts and recommends solutions for the team.
- Takes part in performance assessments in collaboration with other IT HPI leaders.
- Ensures that new employees integrate into the team. Helps recruit new team members.
- Effectively manages team time spent on projects and ongoing priorities. Recording accurately in Autotask time management system.
Qualifications

- Expertise in building secure and scalable data ingestion, ETL/ELT solutions using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools.
- Experience designing data structures and models for Data Lakes and cloud Data Lakehouse for downstream analytics applications.
- Strong SQL and programming skills in Data Lakehouse technologies.
- Comfortable working within an agile environment and collaborating with product owners in creating and managing technical backlog of stories and epics.
- Strong communicator individually, in groups and in presentations with a vision for how cloud data platforms can enable a better future powered by data.
- Experience with DevOps and DataOps (example Terraform, Azure DevOps, Unity Catalog, Purview, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field; master’s degree in related field is a plus
- Minimum of 15 years of applicable experience with 10+ years of specific IT experience in managing solution designs.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in lead roles architecting solutions at scale for cloud data platforms.
- Hands-on experience architecting and building secure, scalable, and flexible enterprise data projects in Microsoft Azure.
- Strong governance and management experience is required.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage workload (verbal, written, presentation/public speaking)
- Ability to research answers that are not readily available. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient at working in Agile project methodologies.
- Good time management and organizational skills
